چکیده

The absorption of ethylbenzene through the skin of the hand and the forearm in men was investigated experimentally. Both the absorption of liquid ethylbenzene and the absorption from aqueous solutions were studied. The rate of absorption of liquid ethylbenzene was 22 to 33 mg./cm.2/hr, and the rates from aqueous solutions were ii8 and 2I5 ,ug./cm.2/hr from mean concentrations of I12 and I56 mg./litre. The mandelic acid excreted in urine was equivalent to about 4-6% of the absorbed dose-much less than after lung absorption. Urinary mandelic acid does not provide a reliable index of absorption when there is simultaneous skin and lung exposure.

Skin absorption of toluene, styrene, and xylene by man.

We have investigated the skin absorption of liquid toluene and of solutions of toluene in water by the methods we used for ethylbenzene (Dutkiewicz and Tyras, I967). The absorption rate of liquid toluene was I4-23 mg./cm.2/hr in I0 estimations on nine subjects. Absorption of toluene from an aqueous solution was proportional to the concentration (Figure). For equal concentrations the rate was on...

Ethylbenzene Removal from Aqueous Solutions by Nano Magnetic Particles

Background and Objectives : Ethylbenzene (EB) is a dangerously organic compound which the presence of this pollutant in water solutions can be considered as an environmental and public health hazard. In this study, nano magnetic particles (Fe 3 O 4 ) were used as an adsorbent to remove ethylbenzene from aqueous solutions. Methods : The specification of the adsorbent was investigated by transmis...

Modeling of Ethylbenzene Dehydrogenation Membrane Reactor to Investigate the Potential Application of a Microporous Hydroxy Sodalite Membrane

In this study the catalytic dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene was investigated in a simulated tubular sodalite membrane reactor. The high quality microporous sodalite membrane was synthesized by direct hydrothermal method and characterized by single gas permeation measurements. The performance of the prepared membrane showed high potential for application in a dehydrogenation membrane ...

Biokinetic coefficients determination of a MBR for styrene and ethylbenzene as substrate base on Andrews model

In this study, a lab-scale membrane bioreactor (MBR) was operated for a period of more than 10 months to determine the biokinetic coefficients of the system under the hydraulic retention times (HRT) of 20, 15 and 10 hrs and sludge retention times (SRT) of 5-20 days. The results revealed that the biological removal efficiency of styrene and ethylbenzene at a solid retention time of 20 day and a ...

An Investigation into the Effect of Various Penetration Enhancers on Percutaneous Absorption of Piroxicam

Achieving a desirable percutaneous absorption of drug molecule is a major concern in formulating dermatological products. The use of penetration enhancers could provide a successful mean for this purpose. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of incorporating a few common penetration enhancers (in different concentrations) into a 0.5% w/w piroxicam (model drug) gel formulation, on th...
